A recent project: saving the stories of 5 Men In Sheds.
Projects can range from a few hours to several months depending upon what you have in mind. The most popular are:
- Biography: families often wish to commemorate the life of a parent by producing a heritage publication for family use (and sometimes another publication for general release).
- Corporate History: companies reaching milestones (25, 50, 75 years etc) like to reflect upon the people and the times that the company has employed and survived.
- Person to Person Interviews: John's Dad had written his family story. It was four pages, written in the third person and read like a business report.
We decided I would talk to his Dad and, as a result, John learned many things that he did not even suspect, let alone know. John is now transcribing the interviews and they will form the foundation of their family history.
- Editing: Mary had also written her family history and this time details were many but inconsequential. The family asked me to visit Mary and then edit and rewrite her story to make easier to read and more engaging.
Many families begin with a recorded interview so that (at the very least) they have the stories in a digital format. Books can come later.
