History from the Heart can help by:
“We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they’re called memories.
Some take us forward, they’re called dreams.” Jeremy Irons, British actor.
• Memoir - a story about a single event, a series of unconnected stories or your complete life story.
This can be either your own story or be written as a tribute to another person.
• Lifetime Legacy – a written spiritual legacy containing values, lessons learned, forgiveness and expressions of love for family members and friends. It can be a short document or an expanded version of the person’s family history.
• Collections – Recollections, travel tales, recipes, journals etc. By selecting a specific theme, relevant to the life of
the person, fun and interest can inspire lasting memories and weave the story around each point.
A recipe book could link personal anecdotes with each person’s each recipe, or family members could contribute a
personal recollection or photo to a family travel document.
• Memory Box – For people who have a collection of mementos and memorabilia (such as a baby’s bonnet,
sporting trophies, war medals, a bridal veil, letters or a journal), a written memoir can be included in a Memory Box,
with the labelled items, thereby preserving their rightful place in the family history.
• Corporate History – documenting the founding of the organisation, key personalities, progress through the years.
